Learning Objectives of the Activity

  • Enhance students’ ability to summarize key historical British music bands by organizing them into a structured timeline.
  • Develop collaborative skills through group work, encouraging discussion and shared responsibilities.
  • Improve digital literacy by introducing students to Timetoast, a tool that allows them to visualize information in an interactive way.

  1. I introduced the concept of timelines and demonstrated how to use Timetoast, highlighting its key features.
  1. Students were divided into small groups (3 members per group)
  1. Each group had a text on a specific band
  1. Groups identified key dates and events ensuring they selected the most relevant information.
  1. Groups entered their information into Timetoast
  1. Each group presented their timeline
  1. Students reflected on their work, discussing what they learned and what they could improve.
  • Some groups tried to include too many details, making the timeline look messy. I guided them by giving them examples.  
  • Some groups needed more time to complete their work so they had to finish the task at home. 
  • Some groups where really creative and wanted to add videos.
  • Give more time for peer feedback so students can make sure their work is good before presenting it. 
  1. Students had to organize information logically.
  1. They  actively created and explored content in a visual way.
  1. Group work required dividing tasks and ended up in organizing themselves.
